Abstract
The question "What is that makes an effective leader?" has been engaging the attention of management scholars over a long period. Indian classical wisdom as well as the empirical researches point out that timeless fundamentals such as humility, universal welfare, self-effacement etc are need for leaders to become highly effective. This paper makes a brief study of recent empirical researches conducted by management experts both in India and abroad. The purpose of this study is to show how what has been said by the Indian classical wisdom through intuition regarding effective leadership has only further corroborated the recent empirical researches.
